07 / Responsibility Truth & Reconciliation

Acknowledgement is only the beginning.

Before land can be planned, built on, leased, or managed, it must be understood as a place with living histories, rights, and relationships.

08Land acknowledgement

Where our work begins

These lands hold enduring histories, rights, and relationships.

Resolve Group works in Winnipeg on Treaty 1 territory—the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew, and Dakota peoples—and in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We also recognize that Winnipeg's drinking water comes from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation in Treaty 3 territory.

We acknowledge the harms and ongoing effects of colonialism, and we understand that recognition must be connected to continued learning, respectful relationships, and action.

A continuing responsibility

What we can hold ourselves to.

Reconciliation is not completed by a statement. It asks for attention in how we learn, how we build relationships, and how we make decisions over time.

01

Learn

Return to Survivor testimony, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, and trusted Indigenous-led sources.

02

Listen

Make room for early, respectful engagement when work intersects with Indigenous rights, lands, communities, or partners.

03

Build relationships

Approach relationships as long-term responsibilities—not one-time gestures—and enter each conversation with humility.

04

Review

Revisit our language and practices as understanding grows, invite correction, and act on what we learn.

10Our perspective

Truth comes first

Acknowledgement should change what we pay attention to—not simply what we say.

This page is intended to remain visible and to evolve as Resolve continues to listen and learn.

11Continue learning

Learn from Indigenous-led and Survivor-centred sources.

Respect begins with listening
